Leah was born and raised in the California horse industry. She navigated through a successful Youth
career under the tutelage of her Mother, Kathy Diggins (pictured left). Her  father, Jim Womack
(pictured left), was a good hand with a horse. His skills extended beyond the knowledge of how to
ride and handle horses into work as a ferrier.

Being raised around horses, Leah was fortunate to be afforded every little girls dream to have a horse
of her own from a very young age. Over the years, Leah learned to embrace many disciplines,
developing an appreciation for the talent, technique and training devoted to be successful in each of
them.

Leah began her showing career at 3 years old on board a welsh pony named Prissy. Prissy was an all-
around pony that she rode western, English and Jumped. Her mother shared Prissy until Leah moved
up to her first horse at about 5 years old. He was a young rope horse that her mother saw jog by with
that little pitter patter gait that she could not let be wasted running down cows! Leah and "Cowboy"
were best of friends. She  rode him both English and Western and, together, they achieved local, state
and national championships in the A circuit on the West Coast. The most memorable being
championships at the Famous Cow Palace in San Franciso and California Grand Nationals in Fresno.

There were many more horses that came and went along the way. Her mother is a talented equestrian
and took to acquiring ‘project’ horses as Leah was growing up, working with them for a bit, then
selling them for a small profit. Leah was always willing to help her and excited to see what would
come in next. Leah started taking on her own projects before she even hit Junior High and was
working horses for friends to make extra money after school.

Leah also started riding Hunters and Jumpers while in elementary school. As if the All-Around
circuit was not demanding enough, right? She enjoyed cross country, dressage, etc. on a little white
pony her mother leased her named Ceasar. That pony once took her through a timed Jumper course
and politely stopped at the exit gate all on his own! She had lost her stirrups and reins on the 3rd
jump!!! Gotta love those kind of ponies.

After all those years of showing and after her show horse was retired, she decided to try her hat in the
Rodeo arena. Leah joined her High School Rodeo team and competed relatively well on her uncle's
ranch horse in Barrels, Poles and Goat Tying! What a rush! She says, "I’m glad I got that out of my
system as a youth, because I don’t believe my knees could take jumping off a horse at full speed
anymore!". That quickly morphed into the reining and cowhorse events in which she competed at
local shows and nearby fairs. When her mother got a taste for the cowhorses, she knew where she
would hang her hat for good….Leah, on the other hand, eventually returned to the Show Horse arena
and the All-Around events.

Kathy has been a strong influence in Leah's life, as she continues to take on ‘projects’ of her own.
Through buying and selling horses, she have moved closer and closer each year to building her
dream Farm/Stable. Westwood Horse Center.

As an added bonus to her life, Leah enjoys being a 4H Leader for a local Horse Club, The Jolly
Ranchers. She enjoy helping the kids to learn and grow through working with horses.

Leah's non-horse job is to develop training for the Marines. She spent 5 years on active duty in the
Marine Corps out of High School, and this is her way of giving back to the organization that has given
her so much direction and success in life.

Finally, and most importantly is Leah's family. Her family is her heart. Her husband, JR, is every
horse woman’s dream! He never asks “When will you be back from the barn?”…need I say more? He
brings to their marriage her wonderful stepson and stepdaughter, Tyler and Kaiti. Adding to their
already full home, they had a beautiful baby in May 05' named Randi Mae. She really completes them
and she can’t wait to share the horses with her too.

Until that time, Leah enjoys showing what she has, when she can. Her mount and discipline change
according to the project horse she has at the time. Please say hello if you see her around!

May you always ride a good horse .
